Greetings to all MIT Postdocs!
On behalf of the MIT PDA, I would like to wish you a Happy New Year 2019. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your participation in PDA’s events over the past year, and invite you to work with us to maximize your training experience at MIT.
With a large population of about 1600, postdocs are an inseparable part of MIT. We are honored to be part of the MIT community and we feel invested in the founding principles of the Institute: to drive the “advancement, development and practical application of science in connection with arts, agriculture, manufacturing, and commerce.” PDA also recognizes that most of the Postdocs’ priorities here are getting the most effective training and advancing expeditiously towards our career goals.
Towards this, PDA strives to provide a variety of exciting programs specifically geared to postdocs, such as the mentorship programs for academia and industry, networking events with industry experts and community building activities for Postdocs throughout the year. In my time serving as the President of the PDA, I worked with my officers to elect a new Postdoc Faculty Advisor, Professor Edmund Bertschinger. The role of Faculty Advisor includes providing faculty perspective on all PDA activities and advising the PDA on ongoing issues critical to the MIT postdoc community.
Other projects that my team and I are working on this year can be found here. It would be very remiss of me not to thank the people who make all these achievements possible: our PDA officers, our Vice President for Research, Professor Maria Zuber and her Office, Ms. Dana Bresee Keeth (Director of Postdoctoral Services), The Faculty Postdoctoral Advisory Committee (FPAC) and the Chair of the Committee Professor William Green.
As Year 2019 starts, let us work together to achieve greater success in our personal and professional goals.
Here’s to a productive 2019!
Thank you,
Rozzeta Dolah
President, MIT Postdoctoral Association
